My 2017 Fall Trend Favorites

Can you feel Fall in the air?

Are you as excited as we are about Fall style?

Eh, maybe you are, maybe you aren't. I don't blame you. It's not an easy task letting go of warm weather and longer days. I am a real nostalgic when it comes to summer - always have been.

But what if, rather than focusing on what we are losing, we focused on all the new memories we are about to create, moments we are about to experience, and things we are about to gain with the new season?

To me, a new season brings its own set of trends and tendencies, so I like to open myself wide for new inspiration and new work to come and sweep me off my feet. I also know that it's time to make the last months of the year count.

Giving new life to last year's coats/jackets/boots and adding new seasonal items to my wardrobe is my way of embracing the new season with purpose, intention and fierceness. It's also my way of inviting all the awesome things the Universe has in store for me. When I feel great, I act on my goals more easily and more decisively.

I invite you to find inspiration in places you've never looked before. Be creative. Be thoughtful. Let your intuition + feelings be your driver. Seek those feel-good moments + experiences that entice your inner being to be greater than what you tell yourself. Give your authentic-self the opportunity to inspire + be inspired.

With that said, here are the trends of Fall 2017 I am looking forward to the most!

Style Stop with Loren Hope - Interview Recap

Before Designer Loren Barham and I were introduced during the Bloggers' RI jewelry tours last spring, I was a fan of her jewelry company Loren Hope and had been watching from afar. What had instantly drawn me to her work was her vibrant 2016 Spring/Summer collection, which had been beautifully styled and photographed in Hawaii.

Each of LH designs makes a statement without intimidating or being pretentious, and because of these characteristics, they are versatile and can be worn for all sorts of occasions, from casual brunch with the in-laws to cocktail hour with the girlfriends.

Truly, I found it impossible not to fall in love with Loren Barham's designs, including how her love story with jewelry began and how it is influencing her business approach.

From letting her creativity go wild as a child by reassembling old baubles in her grandmother's thrift shop, to her strong desire to reignite Providence's long forgotten title of "Jewelry Capital of the World", it is clear that Loren Barham is on to something precious. Parts used for Loren Hope's luxury level costume jewelry originate 100% from local partnerships. Truly - it does not get any better than this, especially for the Shop Small Shop Local, fashion-inclined fans - like me.

When asked about her inspiration behind a collection and where it comes from, Loren Barham said to have always been drawn to nature, art, and architecture from the art deco period.

Loren Hope has been featured in ELLE, Vogue, InStyle, Real Simple, The Zoe Report, Glitter Guide, Lucky Magazine, Southern Living, Redbook, Refinery 29...the list goes on.  To add one achievement on top of another, LH's biggest highlight in 2016 was their new partnership with giant retailer Nordstrom, which now carries their pieces both in stores and online.

I invite you to watch our full interview to get better acquainted with this North-Carolinian-turned-Rhode-Islander designer, who is making waves in our little state and beyond!  Pieces featured in the video can be found below.

J. Marcel Spring Style Event

In early April J. Marcel on Hope Street invited me to be part of their Spring Style event and talk up spring fashion and trends. I had a lot of fun --- actually way too much fun! Guests were happy to have someone on location to guide their accessory selection, and to walk out with complete outfits and a few shopping tips. The best part of the event was styling three lucky winners head-to-toe on the spot! No pressure!

A huge thank you to J.Marcel for hosting this event and for giving me this platform to share my passion and work!
