Spring & Closet Transition

It's not warm yet in New England (as I write this, it is currently about 67 degrees with a high wind warning), but nevertheless it's not too early to start dressing like it's spring in my book. Although I have not put away my winter wardrobe yet (secretly counting the days until I can officially do so), what I've done is getting my lighter, more colorful pieces out and mixing them with my wintery pieces.

And it is small changes like that that will do wonder for the mind and spirit! I like to think that my current wardrobe is in a transition period, and I want to feel joyful about it all the time.

Turtlenecks are appropriate to transition with into spring and then fall, because they can be paired with pretty much everything - with jeans, trousers, skirts, under a dress, over a dress. I mean...endless possibilities. Of course not all turtlenecks are the same, so the pairing will depend on the turtleneck style.

Both top and bottom are from Zara; the culottes were part of ZARA winter sale back in February. These sandals with turtoise heels are about 4 years old; there were part of a limited collection from H&M. They are my go-to tan sandals every year and I am hoping not to have to retire them soon because they have been there every step of the way (from blogging days to first-time mom to business launch). Not being melodramatic...at all (le sigh).

Speaking of motherhood, I was joined by a guest who forever has my heart.

3 Ways to Style The Shoulder Drop Top

The off-the-shoulder blouse, also called shoulder drop or dropped shoulder top, is a big trend this summer. We have seen different variations of them not only in tops but dresses, rompers, and jumpsuits; from casual to more glam'ed up styles, and we can't help it but adore its light and romantic boho flair.

There are bountiful options when it comes to styling the shoulder drop top. We've selected a few of our favorites combinations to take you from antique hunting to wine tasting!

With the shoulder drop top, there is one culprit: keeping the straight-across neckline to stay in place with any arm movement. We love this short video via Refinery 29 that demonstrates an easy trick to get the sleeves to stay put!

Have a fab weekend!

What to Wear to a Fourth of July Cookout

My experience with going to a family outdoor party with my family has taught me a few things:

1. To pack one or two set (s) of clothes, shoes, and wipes because there will be a LOT of spilling happening with our toddler. We also like to pack a few extra balls and toys that E. can play with, just in case.

2. To keep 1 or 2 beach chair (s) and an outdoor blanket in the trunk of my car. Often the party hosts will advise guests to do so, or sometimes they simply run out of chairs. My philosophy regardless is that it is summer after all and who knows when spontaneity will strike for a last minute visit to the beach or park with the family.

3. As vegetarians, our eating lifestyle is mostly comprised of seafood, veggies, fruits, and dairy. Therefore we have to assume the grill will be populated with everything meat except vegan burgers, so we prep our own little grill box. It consists of large portabella mushroom (to be grilled) or avocados to serve as delicious toppings for our WF veggie patties, with slices of tomatoes and lettuce. Sometimes when we feel creative, we'll prep a few veggie shish kabobs as a side dish. Everything to make our time as enjoyable as possible!

4. You knew this was coming…and it's putting the chic back into comfortable and laid-back! With the fourth of July theme-infused selections below, we are opting for basics with a fun denim mix. How amazing is the denim playsuit!

5. Most importantly to remember to splash on some SPF sunscreen for protection and pack a kid-friendly mosquito repellent before you and your family head out!
